## Calculator Use

The Multiples Calculator finds 100 multiples of a positive number. You can specify to find multiples of a number that are greater than some minimum.

Multiply a number by another whole number to get a multiple of the original number. To find the multiples of 3, multiply 3 by a set of integers: each result is a multiple of 3. Here are the first 10 multiples of 3:

• 1x3=3
• 2x3=6
• 3x3=9
• 4x3=12
• 5x3=15
• 6x3=18
• 7x3=21
• 8x3=24
• 9x3=27
• 10x3=30

## Multiples and Factors

How to tell the difference between a multiple and a factor? A multiple is a number that results from multiplying two whole numbers together to create a larger number. Factors are numbers that result by using division to break a number down into its smaller whole number components.

Consider the number 6. Find multiples of 6 by multiplying by the set of numbers 3, 4, 5, and 6:

• 6x3=18
• 6x4=24
• 6x5=30
• 6x6=36

Multiples of 6 include 18, 24, 30, and 36. The list of all multiples of 6 is infinite because you can multiply 6 by any integer number to find a multiple of 6.

You can also find the factors of 6. These are the numbers that result when you divide 6 into its smaller whole number parts.

• 6÷1=6
• 6÷2=3
• 6÷3=2
• 6÷6=1

The multiples of 6 are 1, 2, 3 and 6. There are only four factors of 6. The list of factors of 6 is finite because you can't break down the number 6 into any other whole numbers aside from these four numbers.
