Convert Volume

Answer:
= 0.264172052 fl gal

Divide by 3.785
for quick conversions

L / 3.785 = fl gal

Solution

To convert L to fl gal, use the conversion factor

1 fl gal = 3.78541178 L

then divide both sides of the equation by fl gal, to get the conversion ratio

1 = 3.78541178 L / fl gal

Use the conversion ratio to complete the unit conversion, basically dividing the input by 1, the L units cancel out, and we are left with fl gal units.

1 L ÷ 3.78541178 L / fl gal
= 0.264172052 fl gal

Calculator Use

Conversions are performed by using a conversion factor. By knowing the conversion factor, converting between units can become a simple multiplication problem:

S * C = E

Where S is our starting value, C is our conversion factor, and E is our end converted result.

To simply convert from any unit into cubic meters, for example, from 10 liters, just multiply by the conversion value in the right column in the table below.

10 L * 0.001 [ (m3) / (L) ] = 0.01 m3

To convert from m3 into units in the left column divide by the value in the right column or, multiply by the reciprocal, 1/x.

0.01 m3 / 0.001 [ (m3) / (L) ] = 10 L

To convert among any units in the left column, say from A to B, you can multiply by the factor for A to convert A into m/s2 then divide by the factor for B to convert out of m3.  Or, you can find the single factor you need by dividing the A factor by the B factor.

For example, to convert from liters to gallons you would multiply by 0.001 then divide by 0.003785412.  Or, multiply by 0.001/0.003785412 = 0.26417203. So, to convert directly from L to gal you multiply by 0.26417203.
