# Scientific Notation Calculator

## Calculator Use

Scientific notation is also know as exponential notation. Please consult our resources on scientific calculators if you do not have one available.

Numbers in scientific notation must be entered in E notation. For example, 1.23 x 10^{7} is entered as 1.23E7 or 1.23e7.

Note that 1e0 = 1 x 10^{0} and since anything raised to 0 = 1, 1e0 = 1.

This is a specialized version of our math calculator for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers, however, all results here are formatted in scientific notation. You can enter integers, decimals or scientific notation (i.e., 27, 34.776, 3.5e8 and 4.7E-9).
